A MARATHON SHUNT
At Buckfastleigh - Monday October 11th 2010 |
|
The first movement of the day was to get the newly refurbished
Keyham Toad out of Carriage & Wagon Works (B Shop). |
Followed by the Peckett 'Lady Angela', also in B Shop, in her splendid new
coat of paint. Later in the day she would be taken to her new display place. |
|
Lady Angela and the Keyham toad bask in the sunshine in their new coat's
of paint as they wait for their next moves. Carriage and Wagon Dept's
home (B Shop) is in the old goods shed, seen here behind the train. |
The station platform hosts what could loosely be described as a
mixed goods. The black coach, or hearse as it has been 'affectionately'
nicknamed is undergoing work to become the home of the PW Dept. |
|
The next move was to get the SDR's second Fruit D and yet another Toad
into B Shop where they will both receive a full refurbishment. |
The regular service train ran as normal and here small prarie 5526 runs
round its train. 'Blood and Custard' reigns supreme in this picture. |
|
The afternoon's shunt began by removing the Victorian Picnic Coach,
a Fruit D and a GWR Tool Van from the PLOG road. |
Lady Angela appears through the PLOG shed doors as she heads towards
her new display point. (PLOG - Private Locomotive Owners Group.) |
|
The PLOG road or siding ends in front of the entrance to the Cafeteria. |
A small group of people have gathered to see the new arrival. |

glorious countryside behind. |
The afternoon began to wind down with the installation
of the 'Yorky' 0-6-0 diesel shunter in the
PLOG shed ready for its new coat of paint.
